I am an Italian artist, living in London since 1999. I learned printmaking as a young art student in Florence and I went back to it after a long hiatus. I don't consider myself a real printmaker, I'm more of a painter who makes prints, in an ongoing dialogue with other works.
In monotypes I manipulate the ink with brushes, little squares of gauze or my fingers, often working from dark to light. A also use mezzotint: a technique in which a copper plate is made as rough as coarse sending paper with a special tool and then progressively scraped to reveal an image.
My paintings have been selected for the BP Portrait Award, the Threadneedle Prize, the Ruth Borchard Self Portrait Competition, the Lynn Painters Stainers Prize. I show regularly in UK and Italy and my work is in private collections in UK, USA, Italy, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Germany and the Netherlands
